Attention Breeders and Feeders

On Nov. 4th, 2011 I will be hosting the 15th Annual Black Hided Feeder Calf Sale. It will be held at Bloomington Livestock exchange in Bloomington, Wisconsin.

We started this sale primarily to give producers an opportunity to sell their top quality calves in a environment where buyers are there for just one reason.

It has turned into a bountiful thing. For the last 3 years we have had over 3000 head where both buyers and sellers are rewarded with quality cattle from producers that take the cattle business serious.

In 2012 inputs, bulls and cows are going to be higher. This sale focuses on the most sought after commodity in the cattle industry. There will be several herds of 100 plus calves and nearly 500 yearlings. There will be no cows, dairy, pigs, goats or horses, just good black calves all day.

If a producer has some calves mixed in that are not black hided, we still sell them with the group with a buyers option. With the dwindling cow herds around the county, this is an excellent opportunity to buy replacement quality heifers for breeding.

I have been a licensed order buyer for 16 years. I enjoy the challenges and it has really helps me understand the needs and demands of both the buyer and the seller. Which in turn has been implemented back into our herd. We know that weaning weights mean real dollars for our bull customers and muscle and rapid growth keeps the feeders profitable. This also keeps me out of trouble, especially through the fall and winter months.
